What are the minimum requirements to access the site?
To access the site you will need:
- High Speed Internet Connection (DSL or Cable)
- Adobe Flash Player, version 7 or greater, installed on your computer.
Note: Your Internet access provider may pass through many nodes before it is able to contact Punch! University’s servers. Unfortunately, as the number of nodes increases, your page retrieval rate will suffer incrementally.
Why do I need a Broadband (high speed) Internet Connection?
Punch! University offers training videos. These videos are streamed in your computer’s browser which will require a fast connection or this process it is likely to fail.
Which Punch! Software program do I need to have?
The courses were developed using Punch! Architectural Series 3000 Version 10. We recommend you have Version 10 of our products to get the most out of our training.
Users with Version 8 or higher will be able to follow along with most of the exercises. The sample drawings require version 10 to open. Products older than version 8 can be used with more limited learning, while still gaining some valuable knowledge.
Currently, we offer a Punch! Fundamentals course. Punch! Fundamentals is a step-by-step series where you learn how to construct a house in Punch! from start to finish. You may take some or all of the courses, depending upon your interests and project needs. The curriculum will grow on an on-going basis.

What is the difference between the EXE and the ZIP download?
The EXE file is an installer, so once you have saved the file on your computer hard drive, you can execute it and the course material will be installed.
The ZIP file will need to be uncompressed on your computer. You will determine the folder where the files are installed.
ZIP is a file format used to compress PC computer data into smaller files, often used to speed up Internet downloads. Usually it will contain a collection of files.
You can download Winzip at http://www.winzip.com.
I cannot download the course materials.
There are several reasons you might be having trouble downloading. Here are a few common problems…
You may be having an issue with the default Windows XP Service Pack 2 settings:
If you've installed Windows XP Service Pack 2, your browser's security settings may be blocking your download. If this happens, a yellow security bar will appear at the top of your browser window informing you it has, in fact, blocked your download. To continue the download, click this yellow bar and select "Download File" from the menu.
Other firewall software you installed may be blocking our site:
For help configuring other firewall software, please refer to your firewall's help documents on how to block and unblock web sites or contact the publisher of the software.
There could be a connection issue with your Internet service provider (ISP):
For help with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) including download speeds and disconnection problems, please use the normal support channels provided by your ISP or contact them via their home page.
I downloaded the ZIP file for the course materials but the file is empty.
When downloading the course materials you will be asked if you want to open the file from the location or if you want to save it to disk, make sure you are saving the file to your local hard drive to a known location.
